Well, it’s as I expected… time has gotten away from me this school year and while over the summer I was able to do 2 posts a week I’ve now reduced that number to a big fat zero. I’m trying. I really am. But homework and clubs and jobs and internships and all that kind of eats at your time until all you want to do during your free time is sleep and watch TV (and facebook. Always facebook).
Which brings me to my topic of discussion for today- College nap time. It’s the most coveted time of day and life is often planned around said nap time. In fact, a friend of mine will actually skip class if something conflicts with her scheduled nap time. Not exactly an ideal way of life but hey, when you’re taking 12 credit hours and 9 of them are supposed to be freshmen classes you can do things like that. Whatever.
Freshmen year I took naps all the time. Literally. Friday afternoons were “communal nap time” and Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30-1 were always spent sleeping. Yes, I still remember my nap times. That is how much I miss them.
And now, 3 years later, nap time is practically non-existant. I miss it like the sun misses the flower (haha cheesey movie quote… whatever). I am now over-tired, over-worked, over-stressed, and over-everything elsed. It can only go downhill from here.
My message to you is this- college is for fun, for learning, for living and experiencing… but also for napping. Never again will you be able to just sleep through lunch (and class if your alarm suddenly stops working…). Don’t take advantage of nap time like I did. Love it. Embrace it. And don’t listen to people who say “You can sleep when you’re dead.” Really, who can be sure of that anyway, eh?
